Robert Polk Obituary

Robert Lee “Tom” Polk, 101, of Cushing, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his residence in Cushing, Texas.  A visitation for Robert will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM, at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel, in Cushing, Texas.  Services will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 1:00 PM, at the Dickie Allen Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing, Texas, with Pastor Kelvin Dansby officiating. Burial will follow the service at Shiloh Cemetery, Cushing, Texas, Military Honors will be presented by the United States Army.  Repast will follow the burial at Harold & Pearl Polk’s home. 

Mr. Robert Lee “Tom” Polk was born in Rusk County Texas to John I Polk and Ida Mae Polk (Harris), on July 15, 1922.  He received his early education in Rusk County Texas.  Robert joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church at an early age and joined the United States Army at an early age and would go on to become a proud World War II Veteran.  Robert wore many hats throughout his life, from being a Bus Driver, Dry Cleaner, Carpenter, Electrician, and Plumber.

He united in Holy Matrimony to Mary Lois Dansby, and to this union, five children were born.  

Robert departed this life on March 24, 2024 at his home in Cushing, Texas.  He is preceded in death by his Wife, Mary Lois Polk, Parents, John I and Ida Mae Polk, Son, Baby Boy Polk, Son, Larry Polk, Son, Johnny Polk, five Brothers, Thurman “Pete” Polk, Franklin “Blue” Polk, Lacy “Red” Polk, R.E. “Gaul” Polk, Luther “Head” Polk, one Sister, Earlene “Sook” Scott, one Granddaughter, Yolanda Fulce, and one Great Granddaughter, Nykashia Polk. 

Mr. Robert “Tom” Polk leaves to cherish his memory, one Son, Harold Polk Sr. (Pearl) and one Daughter, Ruthie Thompson, both of Cushing, Texas, eleven Grandchildren, thirty Great Grandchildren, thirteen Great, Great, Grandchildren, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
